"In 16 weeks time my artwork will be framed ready to transport to the exhibition venue".
How's that for a statement!! I've done a few exhibitions in my life and found that by reverse engineering them, everything gets done. Hence today's brave statement. My time line is real and the goal at the end is achievable. This is my Step One - Plan. Like anything that has goal and a deadline there needs to be plan. I'm a visual artist, so planning sounds like an antithesis to what I do. We often think of artists as creative free spirits who just paint and it comes naturally to them, flowing onto the canvas. Some days it does just 'flow onto the canvas' but that is after a bit of preparation and planning. For this little black duck a plan is a must. Otherwise it's like going shopping without a list. My goals are planned, my exhibition is planned and so are my paintings. It sounds so uncreative so un-arty, but to get paintings done, my time and even what and how I'm going to paint is planned. So what will I do in the next 16 weeks? Mostly it will be painting, of course, as I have set a number of paintings to have ready to frame. To make this number, there will need to be more than enough paintings ready. That way I can choose only the best for the exhibition. That's my Second Step. Paint. I hoping you will keep me accountable along this exhibition path. Every other day there will be social media posts on @karoloakleyartist about what im doing in the studio and the office toward making this exhibition happen. Thanks for being part of my exhibition journey already. Happy days, Karol
